The Gift of the Kos'mos Cometh! In Praise of Night and Kosmos

L’Homme Recent (Ex Occidente Press):
Bucharest: 2016
First edition, Hardcover, Numbered limited edition, New in dust jacket,
371 pp.

This is the largest book (in terms of the page count) Ex Occidente has ever produced with 371 pages. Though it sees the “L’Homme Recent “ imprint from Ex Occidente, it is not 6.5 inches square but rather full-blown royal octavo (6.75 x 9.5 inches). This edition is limited to 100 numbered copies. Among the many beautiful books that have come out of Bucharest, this one might be the most striking. There’s the full-color wrap-around dust jacket printed on heavy textured paper, there’s the beautiful cover material with intricate blind stamp. There’s an interesting frontispiece. There’s the standard quality paper, headbands, footbands, making ribbon and such as well. The contributors to this anthology paying tribute to the night and the starry universe are, in my view anyway, an ideal mix of household names and new voices, - those contributors include Quentin Crisp, John Howard, Thomas Stromsholt, Alcebiades Diniz, Harold Billings, Joseph Dawson, Jonathan Wood, D.F. Lewis, D.P. Watt, Stephan Friedman, Avalon Brantley, John Gale, Adam Cantwell, Damian Murphy, Colin Insole and Charles Schneider. Most impressive. . . in many ways. #57245
