A book for kids. . . kids of all ages. I think Gaiman is a good writer, but I think Dave McKean is a great illustrator. It’s McKean that steals the show here. McKean’s inventive and colorful work is just superb - like virtually all his stuff. Anyhow, Lucy is sure there’s wolves living in her walls, and she may be right. Tell yourself you’re buying it for the kid, but put it on the shelf somewhere between your Edward Gorey and Ralph Steadman books. I think of it more as an art book than a kids’ book.
